Anki defaulting to some ugly font, but only on i3. Is this related to system fonts?

I am using anki on i3 and it looks just fine though have you installed all the needed fonts?
I think I did because it displays fine in my other DEs (although, it does require some fidgeting with the system font settings if I've been going back and forth between them). I'm pretty sure it has something to do with specific font types not being specified in my config, but idek how you'd do that in i3.

Oh, and in case it matters, I have font pango set to arial light. That's the only font I have set through i3's config as far as I'm aware.
Ok as far as I know it definitely isn't a font issue. Maybe your config file is interfering with font rendering? But it seems I am not capable enough. And also it would be helpful if you could post you i3config file so I can see if there is any problem.
Here's my current config file:
Try adjusting Qt with qt5ct.
Ok so I think I properly set qt5ct up, after realizing that I didn't even have Qt downloaded in the first place. But while it seems to have fixed other applications that were having the same problem through i3 (i.e.: kde settings), anki wasn't affected in the slightest. I don't know why it wasn't, because it feels like it should've fixed after downloading qt-web-engine. I'm running an older version of anki btw (2.1.35 because a lot of addons I have don't support the future versions). I wrote `export QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME="qt5ct"` in my .profile file, along with changing the font to arial in QT5 settings.
