Alright Ralof, can you tell me what these things are again for the 134th time?
By - Queef_Burgers
You can also just let him get to riverwood on his own
But he got that 'we better split up, follow me' vibe...
Bro what the fuck is that fucking line. He sais "its better if we split up" so thr first time i played I'm like "oh OK we split up.... So you go down that road?.... Mm ok i guess I will just walk randomly through the forest..... Oh shit is that a fox? Can I kill it? I can!.... Wtf i can pick up flowers?? What m i gona do with them??.......... Oh wait what the fuck do I have to do? Riverwood? How do I get there??? "
After like 30 hours of playing I discovered what a guardian stone is, the steed stone being the one that I discovered.
Steed stone is underrated!
The most important stone imo
Steed is the one I always use after the initial 3.
Nah those first 3 are the only stones worth using
nah you can use the atronach stone to become totally immune to spell damage
And not recover magicka passively if I remember right. So you basically can’t use magic unless your fighting magic
late game all your magicka regen comes from pots regardless
Nah to much hassle to use pots like that, only use them if I need more magicka right this second for something... which is pretty rare, which is why no playthrough is possible without 5000 potions in your inventory
I love it bro
The first time I played it I was so immersed, and right after we got thru the tutorial cave, he said to split up. He went right, so naturally I went left. Wandered around a minute, heard some wood-chopping sound, trailed it back to some tents and I decided to maybe go see the locals.
Then those 3 bandits mugged my newb ass.
Oh my god, the nostalgia. And then you go wear the cool robe off the dead elf (thalmor) by the statue nearby
"we better split up. I'll head straight there on this trail, you......do something else. OH some stones!"
"you go that way, I'll go home!"
I am bleeding, making me the victor.
That's alot of nuts!
My nipples look like milk duds.
Lmao he do be like that
Oh I know this one! That’s one of them Beast Stones, yah? Hail the Alma-mater!
perfect, this is really perfect
This. Just started a new playthrough yesterday and I've basically memorized this sequence by now.
"THEEESE are the GUARDIAN stones"
"three of the 13 ancient standing stones that dot skyrims landscape."
I always feel judged when I choose it….
« To each his own »
aah warrior, i knew you did not belong with those prisoners.
Wes Johnson voice: "STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!"
What's the deal with the height?
they look very small for some reason lol
I like it better this way, if characters are tiny then the world would obviously appear bigger than it is.
I once was scripting a thing that would automatically resize everyone to 0.25 to make the world look bigger. It worked fine, the world felt four times larger.
Can't remember now why I stopped. Pretty sure it had to do with stairs being impossible to climb
maybe the stairs issue can be fixed by editing the navmesh?
honestly, I don't know. The steps were 4 times taller, so characters would hop around stupidly
Not to mention houses and buildings look so weird. Imagine doll sized Balgruuf sitting on his huge throne
Omg that is a freaking hilarious metal image!!! Like a toddler only with a beard!!!!
I came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed this. The character and guardian stones sizes are definitely disproportionate 🤨
anything under 1000 playthroughs seems to be fairly rookie numbers
It's per edition, 124 on the re re re remaster is a pretty steady 3 runs a week
These are the guardian stones, three of the thirteen standing stones that dot Skyrim’s landscape, go ahead see for yourself
Damn I didn't know this was a thing, I've always gone with Hadvar
He also explains them. And judges you for picking thief
He also judges you for being a mage.
Which, given the mages at the College, that's fair.
There’s a lot more necromancers than mages so it’s understandable honestly.
You know what’s wrong with Skyrim these days?
Everyone is obsessed with death!
I will not tolerate this Tolfdir slander
Damm poor lads who picked thiefXD
He does? He's never there on my vanilla playthroughs. Started another less than a week ago and I'm alone after killing the bear.
That’s really weird. If you go with Hadvar, you can follow him to Riverwood just the same, and then his uncle (the blacksmith) will help you out with supplies and such.
Yeah, he always tells you after killing the bear something about Riverwood and the blacksmith. Then I run out the cave and run to the standing stones then Riverwood.
Maybe I just run in front of him and never notice him? idk
Probably, you gotta stick with him once you're out of the cave. I usually just shoot ahead, myself.
No, no, it's fine because he says he *doesn't* judge you. /s
I've never been with either of them at the stones. I either outpace them and get there first or, lately, take a detour to Falkreath and mess around a while before heading to Riverwood.
I always used to run into the big door in the front of the barracks, not knowing that there was a choice between choosing Ralof and Hadvar
First 500 playthroughs I picked Hadvar as an Empire lover. My recent 500 playthroughs have almost all been Ralof
Alternate start mod for the win, I'm not sure I could stand to do the opening sequence again.
You can still choose, "I was camping in the Woods" as a start, and it places you at a campsite near the exit cave. If you go in there, you find both Ralof and Hadvar gravely injured, presumably from the bear or fighting each other. You give one a healing potion, and you both run of of the cave before it collapses.
Then that person is available to guide you to Riverwood, and as your Civil War buddy if you choose the correct side.
I recently did that! 👍🏾
This is my default to skip the dragon opening but still get the Ralof start!
Imagine siding stormcloaks
I'm not siding stormcloaks I'm siding Ralof
Fair point, I raise you: free smithing stuff early on
Counter point: imperial officers drop better more valuable loot. More important early game than a bit of smithing experience.
(Also Skyrim belongs to the Nords you imperial scum)
Counter counter argument: just get dwemer stuff level 1
Counter counter counter counter point: I can do that if I go with Ralof. Going with Hadvar doesn't help because Alvor's supplies literally consist of only a few iron and steel ingots. You might as well have said "Just learn Shouts."
Fair point, however
Dont have to imagine, I'm living it
Imagine siding with viking Hitler.
Dont have to imagine, still living it
Imagine forming a peace treaty with literal right down to the genome supremacists.
Imagine doing exactly what the Thalmor wants, by breaking appart the Empire strength before it's time to fight again, thus making it easier for the Thalmor to win in the end.
Agreed, pretty foolish move cutting off hammerfell like that
It’s a peace treaty, and war is brewing. Siding with the empire is the logical choice if you want to beat the Thalmor, since a united empire is the only shot at winning against the Aldmeri Dominion long-term.
...Amongst other things that empire supporters say to help themselves sleep at night.
Yeah, Legion all the way
stormcloaks weren't about to cut off my head
Honestly without the meta-knowledge that the stormcloaks are racist there is absolutely no reason to join the Imperials after they just tried to execute you for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Yea it took me like three playthroughs to go: wait a minute aren't these guys, like, gonna lose to the elves when they win? And doesn't the empire have more forces that they can't use cus they are preparing to fight said elves? And didn't the empire openly allow talos worship until whatsit face assbag (actually forgot storm cloak head guys name) made a big deal out of it? And aren't the storm cloaks racist? And what's the deal with him and reach? Also everywhere under storm cloak control is depressing?
It's tough to take a step back and analyse the geopolitics of the situation when someone's about to cut your head off, though.
Yea, I sided storm cloaks originally because of that
Without the Stormcloaks, you wouldn't have to get your head chopped off.
Come on now. You cannot blame the Stormcloaks for a miscarriage of justice carried out by the Imperials. They didn't have to murder me or Lokir, they knew we weren't Stormcloaks.
Tell that to the elves
I had no idea he had lines for that. I always ditch him immediately
Exactly, regardless if I go with Hadvar or Ralof I immediately leave them so I’ve never heard these lines.
Same, I was very confused seeing this post and it’s comments agreeing
Kind of you to wait for Ralof and not dissapear into the mountains after the first playthrough =)
After you mix the mead with Juniper berries.
Yo what? If you wait for him he'll tell you what those are?
Hadvar for life. Poor fool has no idea which way is up
Hadvar says it better anyhow
I know. This is the Wrong Thing. But I don't get answers any where else.
So, basically. I sided with the Volkihar Vampires, and finished the Blood Stream Thing Quest. Can I change that, like I mean can I side with Dawnguard and destroy the Vampires.
I accepted Harkons Gift, and don't want to be a Vampire anymore. My current Quest is to find the Moth Priest.
This question needed to be in its own thread, I think, but I'll answer anyway: no. Once you've accepted Harkon's gift, you are permanently sided with Volkihar. Only by doing those specific quests can you advance the Dawnguard DLC content from there. If you want to side with the Dawnguard instead, you'll either have to revert to an earlier save from before making that choice OR you'll need to start a whole new playthrough. There may also be a way to use console commands to change it, too, but I'm on Switch so I can't confirm that.
Thanks! It sure Sucks, but I don't wanna lose my Files.
When I completed the Volkihar Quests, does Skyrim change? Like the Sky or the Colours?
Once you complete the Dawnguard DLC, there's a special item you get towards the end that CAN change the color of the sky temporarily, but you're never required to use it outside. But no, Skyrim itself does not change after the questline is finished.
Going with Volkihar can still end up against Harkon when you side with Serana and her mother. If you don't like Harkon, you can still be against him and kill him with Serana i.e. opposing the prophecy.
Either way, using Auriel's Bow won't make any permanent changes to the game.
As long as I can kill Him
He is the finale boss of both sides, so you get to battle him no matter what.
How well written is Harkon that we all want to hill him?
We all love Serana too much to side with him.
Talk about tragic, man. Some real sympathy there.
True. Serana is like... Wow... I wanna kill her Dad
THANKS! OH! MY! GOOOOD!
Unfortunately not, you’re now locked in with the Vampires. You can get cured by either going to Falion in Morthal or by becoming a werewolf, but if you’re not a vampire you can’t talk to anyone in the castle (and therefore can’t complete the questline).
Even if you get cured of vampirism, the Dawnguard will still send hit squads after you, the only way to stop them is by wiping them out through a quest. Isran and a couple of others are Essential until you do the specific quest, so you can’t just head to Fort Dawnguard and kill them.
If you really want there’s a console command you can use to get rid of your vampirism… assuming you’re on pc
No, sadly not. I'm on PS4.
Do one then the other. Either side provides for tons of storyline and gameplay. You can always get cured in Morthal any time you want.
You mean hadvar?
Sir /u/Queef_Burgers, these are the guardian stones
I go my separate way. Straight to the town/first tomb with the dragon shout. No roads. Just me and the forest.
Right after the cave you can just head to the guardian stones and then riverwood without him. He is not needed afterwards. He could die right after leaving and the game wouldn’t care
This picture perfectly captures my issue with hair mods. The hair looks way too clean for someone who goes cave diving in pools of falmer blood and dwemer oil.
Only 134 times? Disgusting
I didn’t even know this dialogue exists in the game. I always end up ditching Ralof and parkouring my way to Riverwood.
Me who speed runs the Lovers stone
"Wait... these exists?"
I'll usually "get lost" in the woods and arrive back in Riverwood stock full of goodies to sell and being followed by no less than 2 cats and a dog.
All these absolute philistines who understand nothing about Tamriel or the stormcloaks crying "racism!" like a parrot with tourette's syndrome upon seeing Ralof in the screenshot.
That aside, even when you side with the empire fleeing Helgen with Ralof is the only choice that makes any sense. Hadvar **knew** you were almost certainly innocent and allowed your execution anyway.
No sane person would entrust their life to him after that while their hands are still bound. Especially when your other option is someone who was just in the same boat as you and has every reason to want you free and armed as soon as possible.
Ew who goes with Ralof?
I go with Ralof all the time just so I can kill that bitch captain who sent me to be executed.
I mean the other guys were going to behead you a minute ago.
A simple misunderstanding between friends.
I go with both but you're right only milk drinkers side with the stormcloaks.
He's my boyfriend dammit
Never understood the hair mods. They clash with the games artstyle so much. People make their characters look like those sex robots.
Okay, Nord Supremacist.
Lol I've played this game dozens of times and had no idea they show you the stones
These are the standing stones
if its been so many times, can you recite what he says word for word from memory alone?
I've been playing for years and only weeks ago that I realized he tells you about the stones.
The worst part is waiting for him to go all the way down there from the dungeon
Wait does he take you there? Ive never followed him to riverwood all the way i never rralized he made any stops alomg the way
They’re called megalildos
Wait, you don't just sprint way ahead of him the second you can?
Never followed him, not even ocne
In the vanilla game, can we choose to follow the imperial soldier instead of Ralof? I just saw that option when I was doing a modded replay (my first replay) and I don’t remember seeing it.
Yeah, you can follow Hadvar instead in the base game. When Hadvar and Ralof run into each other at the end of the outdoor section Ralof says "come with me" first, and his door is closer, so if you're moving quick because... you know... *there's a dragon chasing you*... it's easy to miss Hadvar's dialogue. I know I didn't notice it until my second character.
I can tell you what they AREN’T. In The Cloud District.
I'm so used to speedrunning the points of interest on this path that during my recent and probably millionth play-through, I got to hear all of his dialogue from this scene for the first time. Neat.
Why the fuck is your character so skinny lmao
Modding in sexy woman aesthetics but not modding in alternate starts...
OP and I have different priorities.
Warrior Stone Team <3
Wait, he tells you? I always just speedrun past these grab which stone i want and go to riverwood
On my first playthrough instead of following Ralof I went straight southeast and ended up fighting some vampires in the mountains that were *just* a tad above my level
Hang on I despise “I’ve been playing this long and didn’t know this” but I genuinely have never followed them back to river wood
Dragonborn "Huh-huh...hey Ralof...bet your mom can fit that up her-"
Ralof: "YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH"
Having Ralof tell me would be a first, as going with Hadvar lest me take most of the stuff from the blacksmith
They explain things? I always just instantly leave them and head to Riverwood
Those are rookie numbers
I just, rush to get the Thalmor suit to sell. And also the secret flawless emerald.
What a cute couple
i am so keen for skyrim to release AGAIN (again, again)\* in 2021 so Ralof and hadvor can tell me all about these once more :D but this time with fishing!
Wait, you actually walk with him???
Those are standing stones.
Why Ralof, i always see Ralof how is he better than had are doesn't have have better loot
Thanks for All the Help. Now I am more comfortable completing the Volkihar Quests. Because I now know I can change the Colour of the Sky.
